Norna Playgrounds Leads the Way in Sustainability

Norna Playgrounds, a producer of natural playgrounds, is ramping up their green mission. With a clear understanding of the necessity of sustainability, the company is leading the way towards a greener future.

At a recent meeting at Norna Playgrounds, organized by Business Brædstrup, the company’s sustainable initiatives were presented to the Mayor of Horsens Municipality, Peter Sørensen, and the Head of Business and Tourism, Jeppe Keller Jensen.

Jeppe Keller Jensen inquired about the challenges of sustainable choices for smaller businesses. Peter Bjerregaard, CEO of Norna Playgrounds, emphasized the importance of strong partnerships to optimize both results and processes.

Biodiversity Facility: From Christmas Trees to Wild Nature

A central topic at the meeting was the newly established biodiversity ecosystem. Previously a Christmas tree plantation, it’s now a 9,125 square meter biodiversity area. In collaboration with “Let it bee”, Norna Playgrounds has begun to create a space where nature thrives, and local species restore a piece of authentic Danish nature.

Sustainability Across the Company

The biodiverse ecosystem is just the latest green initiative at Norna Playgrounds. The company has also invested in solar panels and geothermal energy, significantly reducing their CO2 emissions. Their FSC® certification ensures that all wood in their play equipment comes from sustainably managed forests. “We are proud, but the journey has just begun,” says Peter Bjerregaard. “It is a first step towards minimizing and documenting our environmental and climate footprint right down to the playground equipment level. We continue our efforts with green initiatives and documentation.”

Networking and Collaboration: The Key to a Greener Future

The meeting was a platform for dialogue and collaboration. Mayor Peter Sørensen and Jeppe Keller Jensen highlighted the importance of networking and knowledge sharing for the green transition. “Networking is crucial. Through collaboration and knowledge sharing, we can accelerate the green transition,” stated Mayor Peter Sørensen. Peter Bjerregaard confirmed the importance of this network and looks forward to continued collaboration with Business Brædstrup and Horsens Municipality.
